“What’s the purpose of visiting me?” I brought up the subject.
“Ah, right! I’m here to give you a consolation gift, classmate Brock” Princess Alyssa turned her attention back to me.
“Consolation gift?”
“I heard from the Dean that you are working hard for the exam, so I thought about sending something helpful to you.” saying this, Princess Alyssa lifted the paper bag she had been holding.
“That’s very kind of you.” I answered, “can I take a look?”
“Please.” she smiled gracefully.
I opened the paper bag and found a sealed glass jar filled with black powder and a notebook inside it.
I reached out and took out the jar, “this is…”
“It is coffee powder grounded from coffee beans.” princess Alyssa replied.
“Coffee? Is it that drink that is popular in human countries?”
“Yes, did Brock drink it?”
I shook my head, “No, I just saw it from the human merchants. It’s a luxury item in our tribe, we orcs are not very good at farming. We can only grow some foods and grains for winemaking. We buy processed products like tea, sugar, and tobacco from human merchants.”
“I see. It has to be boiled and filtered. It tastes bitter, you might not get used to it the first time, but it has a refreshing effect.”
“I’ve heard about that. It should be very useful to me. Thank you so much!” I thanked her sincerely.
The next few days will be a strenuous battle to reduce sleep time, and drinks that boost energy and help in concentration should be very useful.
“I hope I have helped you.”
“And what is this notebook?” I put the jar back in the paper bag and took out the notebook.
“It’s my class notes and highlights I made. Brock has only been in the class for a small period. I think you need this while reviewing.”
“Is it really fine to give this to me?” I was a bit surprised.
She should also be preparing for the exam right now.
“Don’t worry, I review my lessons every day. I don’t need this notebook anymore.” princess Alyssa said with a smile, “please accept it as my apology.”
“Apology?”
“I heard that night, classmate Brock protected Angelica and Felina from the attack of the wild beast. But, because of the misunderstanding, you were taken to trial. It should have been really hard for you. It all happened because I asked you to help. I’m really sorry for making you suffer.” princess Alyssa bowed her head.
It was true that the trial ended with this conclusion.
“That’s all right, and it’s not your fault. but, .. uh, after that…” I thought of the incident Rolanna had laid out after that, and I hesitated to explain it but I did not know where to begin.
“I heard about that, too.” the smile on princess Alyssa’s face remained unchanged, “it should also be a misunderstanding, right?”
“Eh?” I was taken aback by the unexpected response.
She lowered her head in embarrassment: “After all.. Classmate Brock is easily misunderstood by students and teachers here. I also misunderstood you, didn’t I? So I can understand.” she raised her face again and then looked at me in amazement and tilted her head in confusion, “ classmate Brock, what’s wrong with you?”
“Nothing…” I suddenly felt my eyes a little wet and looked up at the sky.
“Although it’s a little late now, it was good to meet you at that time. Thank you so much, Brock.” Princess Alyssa thanked me sincerely.
Looking at her like this, I suddenly felt that all the grievances have been dissipated.
Her highness will become a benevolent and well-respected queen in the future.
“It’s nothing, just a small matter,” I replied with a heroic smile.
Then I suddenly felt that the fabric of the cloth on my back was a little tightened.
