“It’s you! Uh…” I opened my mouth but I couldn’t remember her name.

I think it was like Ann or something…

The other party made no attempt to remind me, and just stared at me with sharp eyes.

“That…. May I ask, What are you doing here?”I could only try to start the conversation by myself.

“…” there was no response.

“Do you need something from me?”

“…” there was still no response.

She stared with her big eyes for a long time, and just remained silent.

It was a very awkward scene.

It was impossible to communicate with her.

Princess Alyssa seems to have mentioned that this fellow hardly ever spoke in front of anyone since coming here.

What should I do?

What broke the deadlock was a rumbling noise from her stomach.

Although it was light, it stood out in this silent forest.

Her body shuddered and froze.

There was no change in her expression, but there was a faint blush on her cheeks.

This girl hasn’t had her dinner yet?

“… are you hungry?” I tried to break the silence.

“…” naturally, there was no response.

“Well, want to eat something?” I nevertheless asked, and at the same time, I moved so that she could see the barbeque behind me.

Rolanna said that because of the difference in taste, the elves don’t like to eat meat much, and I don’t know if it was the same for half-elves.

As a result, her eyes were immediately attracted by the barbequed pig on the leaves and gulped.

…..I think she likes it.

I squatted down, used the knife to cut down a whole hind leg, wrapped it in a leaf, and walked towards her.

She was still wary, and although she poked her whole head out, she just frowned and looked at me.

This at least shows that there was no intention of running away.

Unlike those idiot elves with stupid prejudices, she grew up in a human village, she was vigilant of me but was not afraid of me.

I walked up towards the tree and handed her the roasted meat wrapped in leaves.

“Here, you can eat it. You’re welcome.”

She raised her head, stared into my eyes suspiciously for a long time, and finally emerged out from behind the tree, her hand reached out carefully and took it.

This kind of reaction reminded me of the scene of feeding a wolf pup for the first time.

Then she immediately hid behind the trees again, without saying a word of thanks.

……. I didn’t expect this girl to be so solitary.

Is she hiding because she doesn’t want to be seen while eating?

Speaking of which, I seem to have heard that she eats alone…

I didn’t care about her anymore and returned to the fire to have my delayed dinner.

The skin on the pork roasted by open fire made it crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fat melted by the high temperature made the meat more mellow. Even without too much seasoning, the barbeque would be delicious as long as the heat was at the right temperature.

This is so great, I feel like I’m living in this world just for moments like this.

In the blink of an eye, the whole barbequed pig was eaten with only bones left.

After a long time, I had a full meal… I put the last cleaned bone down with great satisfaction.

These things need to be cleaned up, after all,  it was someone else’s territory, this is the forest of the academy.

Just then, from the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of another figure sitting next to the fire.

“Huh?” I was startled, I turned my head to take a closer look, and saw that it was the same half-elf.

I didn’t know when she came near the place and sat down staring at me.

Her eyes were not as vigilant as before.

When? Does this girl walk without a sound? Or was I just too immersed in the food?

“What the matter?” I asked.

This girl seems to have finished eating, and in the corner of her mouth, there were crumbs of roasted pork skin.

She seemed to hesitate for a while, then picked up the branch on the ground and scribbled on the ground.

Thank you— she wrote in a common language that I can understand.

“You…”

You can’t speak? I swallowed this untimely remark back.

I suddenly realized that this kind of question was meaningless, whether she was really mute or just unwilling to speak, it was her own matter, I don’t need to intervene in it.

“How did it taste? I just barbecued it casually. I heard that elves don’t like to eat meat much, I wonder if it suited your taste…” in the end I changed to this kind of polite talk.

Very delicious—after writing this sentence, she raised her head. Her expressions softened a lot, and the corners of her mouth raised slightly.

So this girl could still smile…

“That’s good.” I nodded.

Your craftsmanship is good– she erased the previous words and continued to write.

“Of course, I’m best at hunting and barbecuing in my tribe.” I smiled proudly.

She pondered for a moment and then began to write on the ground again.

“Angelica.” she wrote on the ground.

I finally remember that this was her name.

It turns out she was aware that a few moments ago I wanted to call her but didn’t remember it.

Then she stopped and looked up at me.

I didn’t react for a while, then after some moment when she tilted her head in doubt, I realized that she was waiting to say my name.

“My name is Brock, a warrior of the Bloodaxe clan.”

She nodded, lowered her head, and began to write again; “I usually walk around these forests.”

So she was actually taking a walk here.

“I didn’t know this was your territory.” She kept on writing.

“This is not my territory. I just got the permission from Dean to come in and hunt here, that’s all, you don’t need to care about it.” I hurriedly explained.

She hesitated for a moment and wrote on the ground: “can I come again in the future?”

“Yes, you can come whenever you want to have a barbecue, but I can’t guarantee that I can catch a prey every time.” I smiled.

She also smiled at me and wrote; “I should go back now.”

“Yes, it’s getting late.”

I looked at the gradually turning dark sky.

Angelica got up and started to walk out of the forest.

It’s almost at the edge of the forest and she also generally walks around this forest, I don’t think she needs my escort.

Thinking till here, I suddenly remember a thing: “Ah, right!”

She stopped and looked back.

“This forest seems to be infested with wild beasts. It’s better not to walk too deep in the future.” I remembered that I found the scratches of wild animals when I was hunting today.

She blinked a few times and nodded to me.

“All right, then.”

I waved my hand and watched her leave.

Although she could only write on the ground and doesn’t say much, it’s been a long time for me since I communicated with normal people.

It feels good.
