V2C14-Exam Preparations(5) part-2
V2C16-What is magic? Can it be eaten? (1)
I stood there for a few moments as I watched princess Alyssa leave, then picked up my books and prepared to leave.
When I left the table, I looked up and suddenly noticed a figure in the corridor of the second floor.
“Huh,” I immediately stopped and frowned.
There were two main reasons for this reaction.
First, that person’s attire was too eye-catching.
The person’s whole body was covered with full armor, even the eyes were covered by the helmet, leaving no skin exposed— we orcs often call this kind of armor of other races soldiers as a tin can.
It was very weird to wear this kind of attire in the library, it was as if you were ready to grab the sword and rush to the battlefield anytime.
From the appearance, this kind of armor type was worn by males.
Male elves?
However, this kind of heavy armor without much decorations and carvings was not the style that elves would wear. From the impression I got from here, elves’ weapons and armors pay more attention to beauty than practicality.
Just now, when I was immersed in reviewing did such a figure come in and went upstairs? Or was he up there before I got here….
Aside from the weird outfit, the other reason I felt concerned was that he seemed to be staring at me.
Yes, he was resting his hands on the railings of the corridor leisurely and was staring at this way — though his eyes couldn’t be seen, through the orientation of his helmet you could tell that he was looking at me.
It was not strange to look at me. After all, in this academy where elves study, the orc-like me is more conspicuous than him. I still have this self-knowledge.
The princess and I were standing here just a moment ago. He should have been able to see us clearly, as for the conversation, it should be impossible to hear at that distance.
Even when he met my sight, he didn’t mean to dodge at all— a completely different reaction from those elven girls who would flinch or shrink back.
Then I saw him turn his head slightly toward me— a simple, soldier-style greeting.
I also nodded at him.
Then the other party slowly turned around, approached the bookcase embedded in the walls, and began to browse the books displayed on it.
Although the appearance was very strange, he did not seem to be hostile.
Probably a member of the faculty of the academy…
I didn’t think much about it and walked towards the front hall. Behind me, I heard the sound of metal foot armor tapping on the steps. It seems that he had chosen the book and came downstairs.
Just as I was about to leave the reading hall, a loud noise behind made me stop my steps again.
I turned around in confusion to look and found that the tin can I had just greeted was lying on the ground with a broken chair under him.
It was the chair I sat in before. It seems that the moment he leaned back, the chair wasn’t able to support the weight and broke, causing him to fall on his back with the chair underneath him.
That chair broke, it shouldn’t be because of me…
When I thought of the noise it made when I sat down, I couldn’t help feeling guilty.
No, wait a minute, that guy wearing heavy armor who sat on it also has the part of responsibility!
Why sit in the seat I just sat in? The reading hall was completely empty, and there were a lot of places with better lighting than that seat.
However, now was not the time to think about that.
Because I saw that guy waving his hands just like a turtle turned upside down, because his legs were still on the chair frame, he couldn’t find a proper way to adjust his posture and get up. It was hard to get up in that position and the heavy armor made it even harder for him to move.
I hurriedly ran back, bent over, and stretched out my hand: “Hey, grab it!”
“Ah…” for some reason he let out an exclamation and then without hesitation grabbed my hand, “Thank you.”
With great effort, I pulled him up with his armor on it.
“Thank you very much, if it wasn’t for you it would have really been troublesome, haha,” he said with a big laugh.
The sound that came out from the helmet was muffled and made it indistinguishable to recognize. However, the style of speech and the fact that he grasped my hand without hesitation, made me guess that the person covered in armor was indeed a male.
“Are you all right?” I asked.
“Thanks to you, I’m not hurt.” The voice contained a trace of a smile.
“So then….” I looked down, “can you let go of my hand?”
“Ah, I’m sorry about that.” he quickly let go of my hand.
Why are you wearing this armor?— I didn’t ask this question.
It was very rare to meet a man here who was not afraid of me, but I realized with embarrassment that I was not interested in talking with this strange guy.
This weird outfit was too outrageous!
“It’s okay…” Finally, I nodded my head and turned to walk away.
Just as I reached near the door, he suddenly called me from behind, “please wait a moment, Mr. orc, may I have your name?”
I turned my head, thought for a moment, and said, “Brock, Brock Bloodaxe”
“Ah, Mr. Brock of the Bloodaxe clan…” he nodded.
This man seems to know the surname custom of our orcs–outside, we are used to reporting the clan’s name as a surname. Only within the tribe will we report the family name.
Then he stood at attention and saluted at me solemnly: “thank you again for the help.”
It was a salute that struck me as familiar, but I couldn’t immediately recall where I had seen it before.
“It’s just a small effort.” saying these words, I walked out of the hall.
Although he was a weird person, it seems … he was not an annoying guy.
